Comforting Silhouettes
Studio Nicholson X Sunspel
Heritage casualwear Sunspel has teamed up with Studio Nicholson to bring forth a collection that epitomises a shared ethos between the two labels: less is more.
Studio Nicholson, known for its modular wardrobe that draws on Japanese design, creates distinctive silhouettes that put comfort and functionality at its core principle. Sunspel, on the other hand, excels in creating uncompromising everyday luxury with premium materials across its knitwear and jersey sweatshirts. The partnership between the two is a natural fit, with each bringing their own unique strengths to the drawing board. Studio Nicholson wanted to use their fabrics, and Sunspel wanted their shapes and silhouettes. The resulting capsule of monochromatic drop shoulder tees, sweatshirts, joggers, and hoodies in black and milk (off-white cream) perfectly hits the mark of a growing appeal for elevated casualwear.
“This isn’t loungewear. They’re definitely not made for ‘slobbing about’ in. We approached every element with the same reverence as a woven garment – incorporating attitude with elevated, well-fitting shapes and the persistent pursuit of the ideal fit.”
Creative Director, Nick Wakeman explains via Studio Nicholson
Wearing the Idle Sweatshirt in milk, the fabrication has been specifically engineered with a new cotton stretch for this collaboration. Finished with a redesigned soft fleece inside, it is as comfortable as it is stylish. The partnership easily unites Sunspel’s crafting heritage with the proportional hallmarks of Studio Nicholson.
The fit is loose yet shapely, incorporating structure in all the right places where strict rules need not apply. Feel free to size up to accentuate the playful curves across the line-up. The logo, in minimal dots and dashes, represents the brand alliance and harmonious values the two bring together in a system widely recognised by all.
